Each bookmark consumes about 1MB of Database file space, the Database Size grows rapidly.
DB Space is the most expensive Storage and should only be used for fast IOs.
Bookmarks are historically saved in the Database, this results in huge Databases on many Sites.
In Germany related to the RISi driven Workflow and the Conference-Mode near all Studies has a min. one Bookmark. At RKU Ulm, our TP SP2 Pilot, the DB currently uses for the BOOKMARK table already 113,945 MB = 111 GB of space ! since Go Live couple of weeks ago!
We need a better way of handling Bookmarks, like saving it like images outside the database.

To get a better Feeling how much Space is consumed for a Mid Size Customer:
University of Frankfurt consumes:
861GB Storage for PRESENTATIONSTATES and 663GB Storage for BOOKMARKS. in Total around 1,5TB!!!
Both Tables are the two larges Tables of the whole IMAGE UV Database Schema.
I pulled the Sizes from Image DB at University of Frankfurt (UV7 with CPACS Backend V7), top ten tables related to consumed Storage:

there is typo related to the sizes.
since GO Live, 2 weeks ago, Customer created:
947 BOOKMARKS consumes 145MB
1721 PRESENTATIONSTATES consumes 140MB
So in total since it consumes around 300MB of Storage in two weeks for a small Site producing 100 Studies / day.
