UV: Capability to save an image file together with image information/metadata file.

We strongly request UV is able to save certain one image which radiologist want to display on the report and Image information/metadata file should be exported at the same time.

■Requirement

• Image information/metadata File format is txt, xml, csv, etc.

• Image information/metadata file should contain following information at least:

  • Study Instance UID / Accession Number / Series Instance UID / SOP Instance UID / Patient ID / Study Date

• Image file and Image information/metadata file are automatically saved to pre-configured directory.

• Those should be done with a shortcut key.

■The purpose of this function:

This function is needed to enhance safety and work efficiency during creating interpretation report by Radiologist for Japan workflow.

■Background

In typical workflow including other vender system in Japan, radiologists capture Key Image screenshots and paste them into reports to create diagnostic reports.

If the viewport displaying previous series for comparison is active when capturing the Key Image, there is a risk that the image of wrong study is pasted into the report.

To avoid this, following function is usually implemented;

1. Viewer export/save a image file together with image metadata file.

2. Report system verify whether the image metadata matches the study information such as Accession Number which come from EMR. If it does not match, report system issues a warning to acknowledging Radiologist that image of wrong study may be saved.

Almost all reporting systems and all viewer except for UV have this function.
