Description
The current library configuration on EA does not allow us to pool the library storage in to a common storage pool and each library is managed individually. The request would be to implement something similar to the Centricity PACS STS concept multiple devices / libraries can be added to a pool of storage for the system to use. The current design is costing the business many hours in engineer time managing these individual libraries on EA and rotating them round as the libraries become full and EA needs to write to the next configured library in the system with space. At EMRAD alone the OnWatch team a managing over 50 individual libraries on EA trying to keep the system writing to a library with available storage. When it is missed it costs us additional time trying to clean up this library overfill. The service cost is huge for this and will be common on many sites all over the world. The main problem comes with EA updates, when a exam is stored to EA it is written to the active library configured on EA and when that library is full its a manual task to update EA to use the next library with available storage, this not great but manageable until you factor in a busy site with many HL7 updates as when the exam is updates its deleted from the old library and written to the current active library which means the active library fills up quicker and the old library then has unused space so the service team have to then set EA to write back to one of the old libraries to use the space free space and then back to the new library when it is full - a massive task consuming huge amounts of time by the service teams. |
Added to future release backlog.
Automatically switching to the next matching library when the library is full or offline as part of EA 4.0 SP23 release.
Pooling the libraries is not a high priority enhancement at this moment but will add to the backlog for future.
