Tool to copy EDL - EA settings from test to prod or store in Database

No description provided
Description

Over the past two days we have been preparing an EDL site for Go Live.

For the EA part of EDL we had to manually move over all the Configurations from Test to Prod in a live environment. Here are things that we had to reconfigure which primarily involved editing/Cut and pasting Config files from Test to Prod.

We had to:

Create all new Archives and Libraries for new Workflows. This included setting these Archives up on the Shadowed EA and Testing the configuration.

All Tag Morph Rules

All XDS Submission Rules

All Satellite Systems

All Routing Rules

Create/Configure XDS Repo in Prod.

We are requesting to have all of these settings in a Database, or have a Tool to Copy configs from one system to another. This will save several hours effort per implementation and also avoid mistake made due to the completely manual process (as well as the resulting troubleshooting due to potential manual process misconfigure).

Configuration items should be stored in the EA DB and not on files anyhow. The Backup/Restore tool might be an option if server specific information (IP, hosts etc.) are managed separately.

The Backup/Restore tool is used but you have to edit the files manually because all the IPs, storage, etc are different.

In the EA console there is a tool called "Backup/Restore", it can be used to export and import the EA configuration.

If there is any gap with this tool with the current capability, we can look through to improve in the upcoming releases based on the priority/impact.
